You can participate in the Sunderland Arts & Culture Trail this year!
Our competition, in conjunction with Culture House Sunderland and The Art Room Sunderland, is open to everyone of any age in Sunderland.
Thirty artworks will be selected to curate an exhibition in the Museum & Winter Gardens titled 'Local Landscapes: Favourite Spaces in Sunderland' for the duration of the Trail.
We are looking for entries to explore the beauty of Sunderland in all its forms, illuminating a light on the city's urban transformation, green spaces, coastal scenery, and refreshing attitude to life today or in the future.
By entering our competition, you can help us celebrate the vibrant canvas of Sunderland's creativity, expression, and community spirit like never before!
Let your imagination run wild and create something truly extraordinary. All forms of artistic expression are welcome, from paintings and sculptures to installations and digital art.

The Sunderland Arts & Culture Trail is a free event that allows visitors to experience work from some of the region's finest contemporary artists and performers. It is hosted by local businesses and cultural venues and guides visitors around some of Sunderland's rich heritage.
The Sunderland Arts and Culture Trail is a project created and curated by fine artists Dale Hardy and Su Devine and is partly funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Our Judges will select thirty Artworks.
Your digital entries will be enlarged to A3 mounted boards on stakes to exhibit in the Winter Gardens.
After the winners are announced, we may need original pieces from the winners to ensure quality production. All original Artwork will be returned to you via collection from The Art Room Sunderland or Breeze Creatives in Sunderland City Centre.
All types of artwork are welcome, from paintings and sculptures to installations and digital art. You must submit your entry digitally by email. The exhibition will enlarge the minimum size A4 digital entries to A3 mounted boards on stakes.
You can submit as many pieces as you like; however, please send each piece on an individual email.
If schools wish to submit a batch of entries, you must triage and send through the best entries. Please get in touch with arttrailcompetition2024@gmail.com before the submission.

No, this is a FREE-TO-ENTER competition, and no costs will be covered for producing or submitting entries.
As entries are submitted digitally, you will have the originals. We will only have the original if the digital image you supplied does not allow us to reproduce it effectively to A3. Any originals we request must be dropped off at The Artwork Sunderland or Breeze Creatives.
